Popular Philly Restaurant Mysteriously Shuts Down

So this is pretty weird - the legendary Rose Tattoo Cafe, which has been at 19th & Callowhill for DECADES (and we mean decades… since 1983!) is now shut down — and no one really knows what’s going on. The restaurant changed hands in May, as the founders sold it to someone new. Staff was retained, including the longtime chef Alan Lichenstein.

However, things are now far from that, as the last day of the restaurant being open was July 26th. A sign on the door now reads, “Sorry, temporarily closed due to technical difficulties.” The voicemail is full and the OpenTable restaurant reservation is currently now switched off. The new opener has not responded to any questions about it, either.

The restaurant has built quite a following, and now it may be closed for good. We don’t really know, but will keep you updated on it if we hear anything!
