NBCUniversal plans to debut its streaming service in 2020

It's all about streaming and the new trend of 'creating your own streaming service' is hot. HBO, CBS and Disney are focusing on their own platforms and are hanging onto their original content instead of licensing it to Netflix and other services. Now, NBCUniversal has its eye on April as the launch window for its streaming service.

NBCUniversal won't be bankrolling dozens of original series and movies in the beginning. They will focus on licensed content with some original programming.

Of course, one of the main series will be The Office. The sitcom is the most-watched show on Netflix. NBCUniversal outbid Netflix for the rights in the $100 million a year range. Friends, another NBC megahit, will be an HBO Max exclusive when it leaves Netflix next year.
