Plus Size Dance Company DESTROYS Stereotypes!

Pretty Big Movement is a plus-sized or full-figured dance company that is DESTROYING stereotypes!

The founder of Pretty Big Movement, Akira Armstrong started the company for reasons very near to her heart, "No one would represent me because of my size. I wanna be the pioneer of the plus-size movement... When people think about the stereotypical dancer's body, they think very thin, tall, long legs, long arms. Growing up in a dance environment, I did feel like my body was a negative. I couldn't fit costumes, my costume was always different from everyone else's. I wanted to wear my stomach out, I have NEVER been able to wear my stomach out. EVER. Family members would make fun of me... it was frustrating."

She was tired of getting the side-eye or judged on her talent before she even got the chance to prove her dancing abilities. Akira held auditions and put together a professional group of strong empowered dancers! Yas get it girls!!!
