Is Mitchie Torres returning Camp Rock in the film's third installment? The movie's director, Veronica Rodriguez, is weighing in.
While confirming the return of the Jonas Brothers in an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Rodriguez shared, "You can't really talk about Camp Rock or have a Camp Rock movie without referencing her. We love Mitchie," while also noting that while Lovato is not confirmed to appear on screen, she is an executive producer for the film.
Fans have speculated about a cameo after hearing her voice in the teaser trailer, which features quotes from the first two movies and a duet with Joe Jonas' character, Shane. Demi also added fuel to the Camp Rock 3 rumors sharing some Camp Rock themed videos on her TikTok page.
Even though Rodriguez did not confirm any theories about Demi making a surprise cameo, she shared that Camp Rock 3 is a continuation of the story we know and love," and picks up 15 years after Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam. And teasing the status of Mitchie and Shane's (Joe Jonas) relationship, she shared, "I can't spoil anything. What I will say is that people should be excited to see some OG characters. You should feel all of those nostalgic vibes. We tried to put in as many things as we can into this movie, some iconic set pieces, the Jonas Brothers as Connect 3, and even Connie [Maria Canals-Barrera], Mitchie's mom, has a bigger role in this movie. So Mitchie is very much a character in this movie, in this world, and we should feel her, for sure, because she's iconic and beloved and is a part of the Camp Rock legacy."
The Jonas Brothers will reprise their roles as Connect 3, and the film will introduce a new generation of campers. Rodriguez told AOL, "We definitely did our best to give everyone as much as we can from that original Camp Rock feel, so the Jonas Brothers are in it a good amount." The plot follows Connect 3 returning to Camp Rock to find a new opening act for their reunion tour.
Camp Rock 3 is set to premiere in summer 2026 on Disney+ and Disney Channel.
