Popular Long-Running TV Show Being Moved to Streaming Service!

Another broadcast network television series is headed to streaming! In a move that has becoming more and more typical (like CBS did with "Evil" and "SEAL Team" last year, shipping them to Paramount +), ABC has decided to move long-running competition series, "Dancing with the Stars", to Disney+, after 30 seasons on the air.

The show has received a 2-season renewal, so it will air both Seasons 31 and 32 on the streamer, and it will be the first live series to stream on Disney+.

Kareem Daniel, chairman of Disney Media and Entertainment Distribution, said: “’Dancing with the Stars’ has entertained fans for 16 years on ABC, and we are excited to bring this beloved show exclusively to Disney+ as the platform’s first-ever live series. The show’s broad appeal, as well as the overwhelming popularity of its Disney-themed competition nights, make Disney+ the perfect home for ‘Dancing with the Stars’ while continuing to expand our demographic reach.”

Variety adds that if the show is successful on Disney Plus, "it opens the door for even more shows to be shifted over to streaming."
