California Working With FEMA To Test Federal Mass Vaccination Sites

Governor Newsom announced this week a partnership with the federal government to establish mass vaccination sites in California. These will also serve as pilot sites for the federal governmentโ€™s vaccine response nationally.

This comes as COVID cases are trending downwards in the state, but vaccination rollout has been all but smooth. There will be two additional vaccination sites in the state. The sites will be at Oakland-Alameda Coliseum and California State University, Los Angeles, and will be jointly run by the Federal Emergency Management Agency and the Governorโ€™s Office of Emergency Services.

The new sites will open February 16th, and will aim to administer 5,000 doses a day, according to a state spokesperson.

You will still need an appointment and will follow the state guidelines on who is eligible. You can set an appointment on the stateโ€™s MyTurn system.
