Ocean City NJ's Playland Castaway Cove Damaged In Boardwalk Fire

One of the Ocean City, New Jersey boardwalk's iconic spots was damaged in an early morning 4-alarm fire Saturday morning. 6ABC reports that the Ocean City Fire Department responded to a fire at the Castaway Cove amusement park shortly before 8am.

The flames quickly moved through not only a building structure that includes the Playland Castaway Cove's arcade and offices, but also Hamburger Construction Company restaurant, and the Dairy Queen that is right next to it on the boardwalk.

Officials later said that the fire was under control by late Saturday morning, but firefighters remained on the scene working to fully extinguish the blaze.

6ABC reports that officials are saying that a "west wind" fueled the fire as well, and that luckily no one was in the building at the time and there were no fire-related reported injuries. The building did suffer extreme and extensive damage, as you can see in the videos above and below.

The cause of the fire right now is unknown and remains under further investigation.

Castaway Cove posted a message on its Facebook page confirming their was extensive damage, but saying they will rebuild.
