Probably the most millenial way to answer any question is "Oh, there's an app for that!" Need a place to stay for a night? There's an app for that. Can't get a ride to the mall? There's an app for that. Don't feel like leaving your house to get food? Guess what?? There's an app for that!!
It seems like apps and social media in general have become bigger parts of our lives. Now, Facebook and IG are trying to fix that.
According to the social media execs are creating a feature that tracks the amount of time that you spend on the apps.
In a blog post they explained what they want to achieve with the new feature,
"We want the time people spend on Facebook and Instagram to be intentional, positive and inspiring. Our hope is that these tools give people more control over the time they spend on our platforms and also foster conversations between parents and teens about the online habits that are right for them."
On the apps they will include a dashboard that shows your recent activity. You can set daily reminders to help you curb your Facebook and Insta usage. It will even mute some of your notifications as well!
An example of the features for the Instagram part of the application are below.
