South Carolina Custodian Allegedly Pocketed Students' Cash During Walkouts

A South Carolina custodian is in hot water after she allegedly rifled through students' belongings during a school walkout and took their money.

Richmond Police say 32-year-old Aisha Evans was arrested for stealing $180 from three Richland Northeast High School students while they were participating in a protest against gun violence on March 14.

School administrators and the School Resource Officer conducted an investigation and determined Evans was responsible for stealing the money. Evans was charged with petty larceny and fired from her position at the school. She's currently being held at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.

“On Thursday, March 15, Service Solutions notified Richland Two that Evans is no longer an employee of the company and was informed that she cannot come on any Richland Two property,” the school district said in a statement.

Students walked out of schools in a nationwide protest on Wednesday one month after a gunman walked into Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida and killed 17 people.

Court filings don't show whether Evans has retained a lawyer.
