Billie Eilish

Cities: Los Angeles

Billie’s first “real” song she wrote, “Fingers Crossed” was inspired by The Walking Dead. In a 2017 Harper’s Bazaar interview, she explained, “My first real song was about the zombie apocalypse actually, which is weird because it's out and nobody knows that that's what it's about. It’s called ‘Fingers Crossed.’ I literally just watched The Walking Dead and I took little lines from it. Just watch all of The Walking Dead and you'll find some things that are in my song and some episode titles that are in my song.”

Speaking of TV shows, Billie is a big fan of The Office, and even sampled one of the series’ episodes “Threat Level Midnight” on her song “my strange addiction.” She told MTV News, “When we made the beat for ‘my strange addiction,’ it reminded me of the song they play when they do the Scarn dance. I thought that was really funny, so we literally just ripped the audio from Netflix and put it in the song, not at all thinking that they would say yes to it and we’d be able to put it out. Also, it’s about strange addictions, and The Office is mine, so…”

Her previous Instagram handle, @wherearetheavocados, was inspired by a moment where she was looking avocados at home one day. She told iHeartRadio, “I was in my kitchen, I was home alone, I was making a grilled cheese. I was hype. I was making a grilled cheese, I was excited to eat my grilled cheese, and I wanted avocado. So I was in the kitchen, I was in the fridge, I looked for avocados, [but] there were none. I looked in the cabinet, I looked on the table, I looked under my bed, you know, anywhere that avocados could be hiding. And there were none. And I remember standing in the fridge, with it open, like I was in that sh*t, and I screamed at the top of my lungs, 'Where are the avocados?!' No one answered, no one helped me, I ended up not eating avocados with that grilled cheese. So I made up my username as a f***ing joke. Because I was like, this sh*t would be fire as my username.”

Jonas Brothers

Cities:

Jonas Brothers reunited this year and released their new album Happiness Begins, but they actually had enough material to release two albums. In their Billboard cover story, Nick said, “There were conversations where I was saying, 'It could be whatever you want it to be — just shows with the old music. Maybe we do a song.' Eventually it warmed up to, we’re making an album, we’re making two albums."

True stans will know that before they were officially Jonas Brothers, the guys performed as J3. Joe once explained to Vulture, “I’ll never forget our first concert: We were named J3 — and we hated the name. It felt like something a boy band would be called. I remember turning to my brothers before that show and saying, ‘Do you want our name to be J3 for the rest of our lives?’ When we got onstage, I was the one to announce to the crowd, ‘Hey, we’re the Jonas Brothers.’ Nice and simple.”

The guys had to keep their very first record deal a secret. In their Chasing Happiness documentary, Kevin explained, “I was in high school at this point, and I was so excited. But I wasn’t allowed to tell anyone that we were signed because my dad was a pastor of a church. We didn’t want my dad to lose his job potentially. We were signed to a secular label, and we weren’t making a Christian album.”

Halsey has a matching matchstick tattoo with a few fans on her arm. She told iHeartRadio in a 2015 interview, “I selected them randomly on Twitter and brought them to go get matching tattoos with me. It was a cool thing because it was from my Vevo Live series, and we were talking about what we could do with fans, and it was like, go out for ice cream, we can go get coffee — all these boring things. None of that is me. And the cool thing about my fans is that almost all of them are the same age as me. I'm 20, all my fans are between the ages of 16 and 25. That's awesome because they're people that if I met on a random day, I'll probably be friends with. So I selected these girls, and we all went and we all got matching tattoos, and hung out for a few hours. I didn't tell them what they were going to get until they showed up. They just had blind faith in me, which is crazy. And I got match-ing [get it 😂] tattoos with them, and that's the joke. I also told them that an unlit match represents not playing all your good cards like you have one. It's unlit and I think what that represents is potential. You can strike at any moment. And I told them that when they feel like they've reached a point of potential in their life, or they feel like they've done something that they wanted to do for a long time, I told them that they should go back, get a flame added to it, and then let me know when they do because it's a significant moment. And I told them I would do the same, so I'm just holding out for that moment because I don't know when I'm going to reach my potential. But hopefully one day something will be enough for me."
