What You Need To Know If You get Towed In Philly

I got my car towed today because I'm stupid. Luckily I have gone through the process and made every mistake possible so I'm here to help you if you have never gotten towed before in Philly and aren't sure what to expect!

  1. It's going to suck. There's no way around it. Getting towed is a huge inconvenience and it will ruin your day no matter how dope you are at meditating. So mentally prepare yourself to have a bad day or at least a bad few hours.
  2. If the towing company doesn't have it's information or phone number listed where your car was parked, it's going to suck more. If this info isn't listed you can start by googling "towing company" and your location, checking reddit might help you out too if it's an area that's particularly hard to find info for.
  3. Make sure you have your registration (If it's in your car that is fine most of the time) Insurance policy card and driver's license.
  4. If you don't have your insurance card printed out, they typically have an email you can send your card to so make sure you have that prepared and ready to email.
  5. Have enough money to get your car out! My fee was about $175 but different towing companies charge different rates, see if you can check their website to find out what kind of fine you are in for.
  6. Don't expect anyone to feel bad for you. The employees in this place deal with people who have been inconvenienced just as much as you and they have heard every complaint and excuse there is. Just try to get through the process and get back to your life.
  7. Have some time on your hands! You never know how long it will take. Cancel your plans or make sure you don't have to go into work soon before getting your car.

There's my advice! I hope this never happens to you, but if you do get towed, you'll be a little more prepared and know what to expect!
