Halsey sat down for an interview with Maxwell on #MostRequestedLive! She talked about how "Without Me" ruined her vacation plans, the biggest lessons she's learned, what she loves most about her fans and lots more.
On working nonstop (and when she plans to take a break):
"I thought I was gonna be off after my tour, and I had FULLY intended on taking a very long vacation over the holidays, and then I wrote, 'Without Me,' and it was just one of those things where, I had this song, and I was like, 'I can't wait, I need to put this out right now," and I'm so happy I did, because as soon as I did, the fans were like, 'This is what we needed right now. Thank you for doing this, we're all on the same wavelength.' It kind of seemed like they were all going through the same thing as me, so it couldn't have been more perfectly timed. Obviously since I've put it out I've been really busy, which is awesome, but It's the happiest busy I've ever been."
On what she loves about her fans:
"I'm sitting here in this studio crawling out of my skin thinking I'm the only person in the world who's ever felt this emotion - I feel so isolated - and I write this song and I put it out and millions of people are like, yeah, me too."
On what she would tell herself if she could go back in time:
"A. Take care of yourself. The second thing I would say is be patient... and the last thing that I would say to myself is do not glamorize your trauma."
On the biggest lesson she's learned:
"The biggest thing I've learned is that the universe is not going to bless you unless you've created an environment for those blessings to thrive."
