A major development in the #FreeBritney case - NBC News reports today that Jamie Spears, Britney Spears's father, has officially filed a petition to END the conservatorship of Britney Spears after 13 years.

Jamie has petitioned the Los Angeles Superior Court to end the conservatorship, adding that Britney "is entitled to have this court now seriously consider whether this conservatorship is no longer required."

The filling added that Britney's circumstances have "changed to such an extent that grounds for establishment of a conservatorship may no longer exist."

This is a big turnaround from last month, when Britney's attorney, Matthew Rosengart, filed a petition to remove Jamie, and then Jamie said that he would eventually step down "when the time is right." He contested his removal at that point, saying there was "no urgent need for his removal" and urged the court not to make a decision based on "false allegations", according to NBC News.

It appears he is now changing his tune, as he is now not only agreeing to step down, but petitioning to end the entire conservatorship completely.
