Pennsylvania Announces Change To Face Coverings Order

The Pennsylvania Department of Health announced an amendment to its statewide face coverings order in adherence with guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention for fully vaccinated individuals.

CDC guidelines now allow fully vaccinated people to resume the following activities, per WPXI:

  • Visiting other fully vaccinated individuals indoors without wearing masks or physical distancing
  • Visiting unvaccinated individuals from a single household who are at a low risk for severe COVID-19 indoors without wearing a face covering or physical distancing
  • Refraining from quarantine and testing following a known exposure, if the individual is asymptomatic.

“People are considered fully vaccinated for COVID-19 more than two weeks after they have received the second dose in a two-dose series or more than two weeks after they have received a single-dose vaccine,” a news release from the Health Department obtained by WPXI stated.

The CDC advises vaccinated individuals to still be aware of the potential risk of transmitting COVID-19 to others by continuing to wear masks and keep physical distance while in public.

The Pennsylvania Department of Health said vaccinated people are still asked to avoid medium- and large-sized gatherings, get tested if they experience COVID-19 symptoms and adhere to guidelines issued by employers and travel restrictions in an effort to limit the spread of the coronavirus.

The amendment went into effect last Wednesday (March 17) and will remain in effect until further notice.
