As per TMZ, Petty has submitted legal documentations, asking a judge to make an edit to his pretrial release conditions, so he can travel with the rapper on occasion on business as her manager and be by her side for the birth of their baby. Minaj made the big announcement in mid-July, sharing multiple photos of her growing baby bump. "Love. Marriage. Baby carriage. Overflowing with excitement & gratitude. Thank you all for the well wishes," the rapper said in the social media post. She's reportedly at least six months into the pregnancy.
In case you didn't know, Petty is at the center of some controversy since he's a registered sex offender in California after he was arrested for allegedly failing to do so when he moved from the east coast to the west coast. His probation terms include a curfew and a travel restriction to California. Now, Petty has asked the judge for permission to attend the birth if Minaj goes into labor outside his curfew hours. While the U.S. Attorney’s Office and pretrial services office have not opposed to the inquiry, a judge is set on making the final decision.
Petty's sex offense status originated from his 1995 New York conviction for first-degree attempted rape of a 16-year-old. He pled not guilty to failing to register as a sex offender in California when the two moved there last July. He’s now on pretrial release and required to remain in the state.
