Pennsylvania Toy Poodle Picked Up By Hawk

A 16-year-old toy poodle in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, was scooped up from her yard by a hawk. Her pet parent, Deborah Falcione, thought the pup who's name is Porshia, was a goner. The 6-pound Porshia is blind and deaf, so things looked grim.

Relief came 28 hours later when a nearby animal hospital called with the news that Porshia was found and was safe! This was after a super cold night outside.

Deborah credits Porshia being okay to her strong willed nature.

As for Porshia, she's okay. She has no broken bones which is good.

If you have a little dog, there are some tips to avoid birds from picking them up:

  • Keep them on a leash and watch them when they're outside
  • Take out bird feeders from your yard since it attracts the birds hawks like to eat
  • Put shiny, moving objects in the yard to scare the birds
