'Saved By The Bell' TV Sequel Is Officially Happening!

We’ve been hearing talks and talks and talks for years about a possible “Saved By The Bell” reboot/sequel, and today brings some joyous news — it’s 100% FINALLY happening!

NBC announced today that an upcoming TV sequel, starring Mario Lopez and Elizabeth Berkley (and possibly Mark-Paul Gosselaar and others) is set to be a part of their new streaming service, Peacock, which launches in April 2020 (originals start premiering in Summer 2020.)

The Hollywood Report describes the new series as follows:

The new, straight-to-series comedy explores what happens when California Gov. Zack Morris (Gosselaar's role) gets into hot water for closing too many low-income high schools, he proposes they send the affected students to the highest-performing schools in the state — including Bayside High. The influx of new students gives the over-privileged Bayside kids a much-needed and hilarious dose of reality. Lopez and Berkley will return to play their beloved characters A.C. Slater and Jessie Spano, respectively, in what sources say are new roles as parents.

We can't believe it's finally actually happening! Hopefully the entire cast will return!
