Mattel To Release Limited Edition Barbie Celebrating "Día de Los Muertos"

This is pretty cool for all the people who celebrate their loved ones that have passed on during Día de Los Muertos. Día de Los Muertos is a Mexican holiday celebrated beginning on October 31st and goes through November 2nd. I know my family celebrates a similar holiday in the Philippines that coincides with the Catholic holidays of All Saints Day and All Souls Day, where we don't mourn our dead, but celebrate the amazing lives they led on Earth by having a party, enjoying company, and feasting! (Did I mention there's a lot of food?) Also, if you've seen Disney's Coco, you have heard of this holiday and the famous "ofrenda" (altar) that Miguel mentions multiple times. The movie put the holiday into the mainstream back in 2017.

Mattel is releasing a limited edition Barbie honoring the Mexican holiday, complete with the garments usually worn during the celebration and Barbie's face painted like a skull, or calavera.

The special Barbie will be available beginning on September 12 and will retail at $75 at Walmart.
