Didn’t see this one coming — Both “Chrisley Knows Best” stars Todd and Julie Chrisley are now under federal indictment over tax evasion and fraud — but the two stars say they did nothing wrong.
An Atlanta federal grand jury brought down the charges on multiple counts of conspiracy, bank fraud, wire fraud, and tax evasion. The couple’s accountant was also subsequently indicted on tax-related charges.
TMZ reports that the U.S. Attorney’s office claims “Todd and Julie defrauded banks by fraudently obtaining millions of dollars in loans” and that the two “cheated taxpayers by actively evading federal taxes on the money they earned.” They allegedly ran the scheme for 5 years, from 2007 to 2012.
The two say they are innocent and that all of the crimes were carried out by a former employee and that they had no idea it was happening. Todd also says that same person was caught stealing money from the family. Time will tell on that one - check out Todd’s response below:
