It’s a big year for Pokémon, a video game that started the collecting craze back in Japan in 1996. The ever-popular video game celebrates its 25th anniversary this year and The Pokémon Company is sparing no expense.
From limited edition apparel at the Pokémon Center website to collaborations with artists like Katy Perry, it’s going to be a year to remember for fans of the video game.
One big promotion they are currently running is with fast food giant McDonald’s, giving away limited edition trading cards with every Happy Meal. There’s 50 cards in all for the promotional set, with each Happy Meal containing a pack of 4 cards. As you know, the Pokémon Trading Card Game craze hit an all time high with recent purchases from social media influencers and musicians like Logan Paul and Logic.
It seems like it may be impossible to find the popular trading cards at McDonalds because of collectors and scalpers alike scooping these Happy Meals up in bulk, some even buying entire boxes of just the Happy Meal toys. (Some people are speculating that McDonald employees are scooping up inventory at their workplace!)
So, to all my fellow Pokémon trainers out there: stay strong and good luck catching them all!
