Disney World To Reopen In July, Disneyland Will Get Green Light In Phase 3

With much of the country going through a "phased reopening" process, many theme parks are preparing for the grand re-opening after almost three month shutdown.

Walt Disney World will be one of the first parks to open up, with the re-opening slated for July. Park officials are opening up the park in sections, using that "phased in" approach, and not doing a full 100% reopening at the same time. Disney’s Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom are slated for a July 11 re-opening, while Epcot and Disney’s Hollywood Studios will open back up on July 15.

Things will not be the same, with new procedures to take place before entering the park, like temperature checks upon arrival, and physical distancing. There will be enhanced cleaning, plenty of hand-sanitizing stations, and the park will favor "contactless" payment and mobile ordering for food using the app.

Yes, it also means the meet and greets with the characters will be temporarily suspended. Sad face, I know.

As far as Disneyland is concerned here in California, according to the Governor's phased reopening plan for the state, the theme park falls under the "Stage 3" portion of the plan. California is currently on Stage 2, but Governor Newsom hinted that Stage 3 could be here as early as the first week of June.

Don't expect Disneyland and California Adventure to open up like a light switch. Just to give you an idea how fluid this situation is, none of the other Southern California theme parks (as of this writing) have announced a firm reopening date.

Let's get it done right the first time, so be patient with the mouse!
