Katie McGinty was born on May 11, 1963 and raised in Northeast Philadelphia. She is the former Senior Vice President and Managing Director at Strategic Growth at Western Solutions, Inc. and currently resides in Wayne, PA with her husband, Karl, and their three daughters. McGinty received a B.S. in Chemistry from St. Joseph's University, and a J.D. from Columbia Law School. She served as Chair of the PA Energy Development Authority and as Secretary of the PA Department of Environmental Protection. McGinty acted as Deputy Assistant and, later, as Chair of the White House Council on Environmental Quality under President Bill Clinton. She has also served as an expert on the shale gas advisory task force chartered by the Department of Energy and led the renewable energy and energy efficiency advisory board to the DOE.
