This is so beautiful and yet so heartbreaking. People is reporting that Ed Sheeran helped to fulfill Triona Priestley's final wish on Sunday by singing "Little Bird" (her favorite song) to her over the phone right before she passed away. Triona, who had been battling cystic fibrosis since childhood, passed away minutes after receiving the call, reports Independent.ie. This all was made possible by a Twitter campaign. Her health started to turn for the worst and her family and friends logged on and posted Tweets directed at Ed with the hashtag #SongForTri. By Sunday night the hashtag was trending on Twitter, and Ed's management contacted her friend to set up the phone call.
"Ed rang Triona and personally sang Little Bird to her as she took her last breaths," Hanlon wrote on Facebook, according to the Daily Mail. "Triona left us listening to her idol surrounded by all the people who loved her. People's respect is incredible. We would like to thank everyone."
Rest in peace Triona, so heartbreaking x— Ed Sheeran (@edsheeran) April 1, 2014
