Former 'American Idol' Star Pleads Guilty To Drug Charges, Faces 10+ Years

Former 'American Idol' star Antonella Barba officially plead guilty on Tuesday in Virginia to "one count of conspiracy to distribute the powerful opiate fentanyl."

The 32-year old, who is from Point Pleasant in Ocean County, was arrested back in October after police found "a shoebox in the rental car she was driving that contained 830 grams of fentanyl."

She could now be facing up to 10 years in prison and as much as $10 million in fines -- she'll be sentenced on November 21 in Virginia.

Police say Barba was working as a drug courier when she was arrested.

She was a contestant on 'Idol' back in 2007 - she made it to the semi-finals, but just missed the top 12.
